Wow.I am new to the AS/400 and RPG (I've been a programmer since the 70's). After using several other books to try and learn RPG IV, I found this one. What a treasure.It is well written, well organized and tells you what you need to know when you need to know it! It is a good reference book for a beginner and the examples are understandable.If you are starting in RPG and need a pathway to RPG ILE this is the book.

I recently got back into an RPG programming job after being away from it for a few years. This book has helped refamiliarize me with the language and has been well worth the money to me. Much easier to use than the IBM manuals and easier to find information and answers quickly. Well worth having if you're an RPG programmer.

Great book ! Anyone looking for a concise, yet complete and even fun (if you like RPG IV) reference to the language, that is not boring or dense at all, this book is the right choice for you.

I spent a lot of money on this book and I found that the printed qualify of the book is horrible, such a low quality product. Don't think I will every purchase another book from this publisher

When I got my first job as an RPG programmer (never having worked on the iSeries before) I bought this book thinking that it would get me up to speed, was I ever wrong. What a mess of a book - a lot of it seems like it was copied directly from the IBM website and re-worded (some of the API docs are wrong which I discovered later). After reading this book you might feel like an idiot cause you didn't understand any of it. The author assumed that everyone already knew RPG III which in itself is even more weird that RPG IV.

saved my butt for over 25 years. This volume is for programmers who have a working knowledge of the language. Examples are excellent and reliable. Expensive (outrageous) but highly recommended.

This is a really quick & easy character reference geared mainly towards newer & casual fans.Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man & Wasp- these were the first & founding Avengers, although Captain America would be the first new member in Avengers #4. He has even been given "founding member" status in the comics, although this isn't mentioned in this guide. This is an alphabetical treatment, with profiles being listed for over 200 characters related specifically to Marvel's Avengers comics. Each character gets a single page with a single paragraph explaining what they're essentially all about. Vital stats are listed: their real names; occupations; bases; heights; weights; eye & hair colors; powers; allies & foes. Then there's a video game style power ranking grid giving us a quick feel for how powerful these individuals really are. The 6 power stats here: energy projection; strength; durability; fighting skill; intelligence; and speed. Each stat level is ranked 1 to 7, with 7 being the best. Then there are also little tidbits of info added on each page, to help give us a more personalized understanding of each character.I think this is a decent idea, great for kids(!), and it's fun to flip through it every now & then, as there is a wide variety of colorful art on display.

If you are an Avengers fan or Marvel comics fan this book is a must own!!!!!!!! This books shows both heroes(Avengers) and villains that operate in the Avenger world. The descriptions of each character is on point. Each character descriptions are not to long or short just giving the right amount of facts to know how the character operates in the Avenger environment. There plenty of colorful pictures showing each very characters. This book shows some lesser know characters with some pretty cool backgrounds(maybe one day in an Avengers movie). This is a great book to own if you want the history of characters that are involved in the Avengers universe.

this is a really good book with great art and information on lots of characters, perfect for any fans of marvel. BUT, do not make the same mistake i did, when i bought this i thought since it said marvel in big huge letters on the top that it was an all marvel guide, but its sadly only avengers and not all of marvel. so if you buy this dont expect to see characters such as ghost rider or iceman because this book is only avengers and people ascociated with the avengers. i was very disapointed when i found this out, but it was to late for me. so dont make the same mistake i did and assume its all marvel. in a quick summary: this book has great info and art work that you can be reading for hours but does not have all of marvels characters, only avengers and their villians.

My son claims to be the biggest fan for any Marvel or DC things and he has even learned a lot of cool new information about some of the characters who make up the Marvel world. He has carried this book around for weeks reading and rereading every aspect of these characters. As someone who isn't into the comic world as much as my son, I too have found them to be enjoyable, informative and entertaining to read. Would love to find more.

Bought the book a couple of months ago for my 5 & 8 year olds and they love it!Every night we read about a superhero or two and they are really into it. Gives us something to bond over.I like how it provides just enough information to get a general idea of all the Marvel Superheroes without any overkill.If your kids are into superheroes, this is a good addition to their library.

Another wonderful book for any Marvel Avengers fan. This is a book that Santa brought for my 8 year old. He wanted the book the year before, but Santa forgot because his memory is not what it used to be. This last year, Santa remembered it. Since my son got the book, he has not put the book down! He reads it while on the toilet. Pooping for him has never been the same. Good stuff I guess, because really who wants to hang out and smell your turds while in the bathroo. This is highly recommended reading by an 8 year old boy. I promise that you can trust a kid that actually takes the time to read a book of awesome Marvel Characters while dropping a deuce on the toilet. LOL. Marvel fans UNITE!

I actually, preferr this one to their new update. (Newer graphic designers on the latest volume, appears all over the place to me... like some of the new comic books. - Making the new one, harder to follow.) This one is a much better design! - Communication Specialist!

While this may not be the absolute all inclusive character guide that some people may be looking for, it's great for people who aren't that into comics or have kids that are just starting to get into it. My son knows and loves all the main heroes like Iron Man and Wolverine, and this book lets him read about them while exposing him to a whole bunch of other characters that he or I have never even heard of. Its a lot of fun just flipping through the pages and reading about random heroes and villains. It's basically one page per hero or villain, with some pictures and descriptions of their powers and history of the character. Again, it may not be as detailed as some who are more into this would like it to be, it's great for us new to this or with kids.
